Pistons Wallpaper

I was working on a new image for a print and since I haven’t had the time to cut the block yet, I decided to make a wallpaper so that I could at least see it. I hope you enjoy it. I’m making it available in iPad and mythical iPad 3 sizes as well.

Lightning Playoff Desktop

Those of you who know me, know I’m a huge hockey fan. So, in honor of my team reaching the Eastern Conference Finals (Go BOLTS!) I’ve decided to make a new desktop.

The last time I made a Lightning desktop was in 2008, and I worked at the company who did the graphics package for the entire arena. My desktop design actually was one of the official designs available until the recent logo change. My creative director saw it on my desktop and we ended up sending it off to the Lightning who took it and made a square version. Though I was on another project at the time, I also contributed a lightning bolt which my friend Javi added to the opening. I had to say that because, well, I’m such a big fan that that was a huge deal to me.

Anyway, I’ve been using their official logo desktop for a bit, and I thought it needed to reflect the playoff attitude a bit more. Unfortunately I no longer have access to official logos, so I went ahead and made my own vector of the new logo. Luckily it’s much cleaner (and way nicer) than the older logos so it was pretty simple. And then I made this version, which I’m making available to you guys. Enjoy!

Carbon Fiber

I was watching the NHL All-Star game yesterday and I saw that they were using a carbon fiber texture in the background. It was subtle and somewhat interesting so I decided to make my own carbon fiber texture available for download. It’s 1000×1000 pixels and the individual parts of the weave are quite large, so that you can basically use it on anything. I left the contrast fairly low so that you can take it pretty far. Throw it into photoshop and use it as is. Throw it into After Effects, scale it down and motion tile it. Have fun with it.

AE Crib Sheet

I recently purchased a drobo and I was moving some files around. I came across this old Illustrator file of After Effects shortcuts that I made for the office when I interned at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. It had some weird use of fonts for the style which I thought were cool at the time.

I opened it up and fixed a lot of the things that were wrong with it. I also added my own font as the headings. If you want a Carson-like crib sheet of AE keyboard shortcuts, feel free to grab the pdf below. It’s formatted for 8.5×11 paper.
